54 Custom Hand Drawn Playing Cards, That Reminds About The Vanity Of Earthly Life
Product Description
Memento mori has been an important part of ascetic disciplines as a means of perfecting the character, by cultivating detachment and other virtues, and turning the attention towards the immortality of the soul and the afterlife. In art, memento mori are artistic or symbolic reminders of mortality.
Vanitas means “emptiness” and refers to the view of earthly life and the worthless nature of all earthly goods and pursuits. The word vanitas derives its prominence from the Ecclesiastes, and in Vulgate the verse is rendered as “Vanitas vanitatum omnia vanitas”. Designed by Moritz Schaaf.
